A Roundtable and Facilitated Discussion with Faculty, Students, and Community Organizers

This online event, a collaboration between Writing Across Emory and the Emory Writing Center, focused on two linked themes: 1) positioning local grassroots movements for racial and environmental justice as sites of cross-disciplinary communication education, and 2) what it means to enact accountability to these movements in our classroom pedagogies. These movements impact the campus community, and by extension, our students, many of whom are not from Atlanta or Georgia. By engaging faculty, staff, community organizers, and undergraduate writing center tutors, this roundtable/discussion aimed to facilitate conversation across ranks, departments, institutions, and campus/community.
This roundtable/discussion was adapted into a presentation for the Southeastern Writing Center Association Conference, held in Atlanta in February 2024.
